Internship and Practicum Opportunities
Internship
with Kids' Korner (Grades K-5) and Student
Assistance Program (Grades 6-12)
An
academic year commitment (last week
of August to first week of June) is required
for internships. MFT and LCSW licensed
and experienced staff provides individual
and group supervision that is part
of the 20 hours/week schedule. Intern
and supervisor schedule individual
supervision. Includes stipend and monthly
in-service training. Applicants must
be MFT or MSW graduate students and
post-graduate interns.
Internship
encourages collaborative work on a range
of presenting problems, and provides
opportunities to see clients from a diverse
population. Sessions may be audiotaped
for supervision. Applicants who are bilingual
English/Spanish and/or have bicultural
skills are encouraged to apply.
Placement
Options
Agency Interns carry a caseload of 10-12 clients/families.
Interns also assist with crisis intervention,
assessments, and may lead groups or workshops.
Interns participate in staff meetings
and case consultations. Interns must
be available for two afternoon/evenings
a week, or Saturday hours may be substituted
for one evening. Interns may be a trainee
or a registered MFT intern or have registration
pending. Family counseling internships
are available for advanced trainees.
School
Site interns work 17
hours per week over three days at an
elementary, middle or
traditional/continuation high school.
Students are seen individually or in-group.
Interns also assist with crisis intervention
at school site. Interns may be MFT trainee
or MSW intern. Internship meets practicum
requirements for dual track PPS/MFT and
PPS credential students.
