Save the Date – Empower Watsonville Leadership Conference

Empower Watsonville is a youth leadership conference organized by high school students, for high school students. The conference is sponsored by Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance (PVPSA). Based on an open workshop format, the event will start with a formal opening ceremony and keynote speaker, and then feature guest speakers and informational one hour sessions throughout the day. These workshops will highlight interesting and inspirational leadership stories and skill development. A formal closing ceremony will conclude the event.
A brief VIP reception for local officials and special guests will be held prior to the opening ceremony, giving them the opportunity to meet the student Executive Teams in charge of planning and running the conference. An Empower Watsonville Impact Zone will be held during lunch where community organizations can set up booths or tables for participants to visit.
Empower Watsonville will be held December 8, 2018 at the Mello Center and host approximately 200-300 students. Community leaders running workshops will be encouraged to stay for the entire event, allowing students to connect and network with community leaders, creating opportunities for dialogue, and working to support a shared vision for the community.
VIP Meet and Greet prior to the Opening Ceremony – 8:15am to 8:45am
Empower Watsonville Youth Leadership Award – 9:00am to 9:30am
Closing Ceremony and Keynote – 2:30pm to 3:00pm
Empower Watsonville will create a community-driven generation of youth who will inspire their peers, create awareness about important issues, and work to solve conflicts in their community. The vision for Empower Watsonville was developed by the Executive Teams and highlights the goal of the event.
