Capital Campaign

PVPSA is embarking on a Capital Campaign!

We are on our way to developing a new, welcoming counseling center for the children and families served by Pajaro Valley Prevention & Student Assistance (PVPSA). Our new home will be located at411 East Lake Avenue and we invite you to join us!   Our goal is to move into our new location by early 2019 and we need your leadership, ideas and generosity to complete this exciting project.

What does this move mean for our children and our community? Most urgently, this facility expansion will mean we can support more children. This is needed because many children and families are waiting for support and assistance. Did you know that currently PVPSA supports 1 out of every 3 children and many more need in our help? With space expansion, we will bring more counseling, life skills, parenting skills and healthy living services so children will stay in school and have a “toolbox” of coping skills they need to succeed in life.

Our new home will also bring us the ability to meet opportunities for service expansion, have an efficient central location for staff, youth and families and continue to work with the community for years to come while revitalizing a very important corridor in the City of Watsonville. This new home will be a warm, welcoming environment for children and families; a place where they will feel safe, supported and encouraged to move forward to a thriving life. More children and family counseling rooms will be added and equipped with engaging children’s toys and furniture that will encourage therapy and family work.  There will be a community room also that will be available to partners in our efforts.

PVPSA was fortunate to receive two competitive grants for this project from the Central Coast Alliance for Health. Our November 2016 planning grant award allowed us to conduct a feasibility study and engage in activity to secure the property and current facility at 411 East Lake Avenue, located in the Brewington and East Lake Avenue intersection.

June 2017 we received the thrilling notice of our second grant from the Alliance; a $2.2M capital acquisition grant award, which requires a 25% match. The goal of our community capital campaign is $865,000. This will meet the required grant match and ensure our property will be remodeled and expanded to a 6,500 square foot facility..

We know our expansion and a capital campaign will take the generous involvement of many community leaders, concerned individuals, corporations, foundations, and our own board of directors. With the leadership of Steering Committee Chair Janet Mayou, our board giving and executive staff gifts are at 100%!
