SENIOR PROGRAM SPECIALIST 

Full Time (40 hours); Two Positions Available

About the Position: Under the direction of the Program Manager or designee, coordinate the implementation of substance abuse education related curriculum and establishing a smoking/vaping cessation program in secondary schools throughout Santa Cruz City Schools.

 

About the Agency: Pajaro Valley Prevention & Student Assistance, Inc (PVPSA) has been the leader of youth prevention and intervention services in the greater Pajaro Valley and throughout the County of Santa Cruz. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates implementation of evidenced based substance abuse education services to youth

  • Develops expert knowledge of specific primary and a secondary cannabis, tobacco and substance abuse education educational materials, trainings, and activities

  • Serve as the senior lead workingwith school site administration to arrange for delivery of curriculum and/or services

  • Plans, preps, and presents curriculum in the classroom, individual and community setting

  • Support junior colleagues as needed to implement prevention and intervention education services at school sites or in the community

  • Administers and collects program evaluation data

  • Research, design and implement training and professional development information about cannabis and other related substances to collaborative partners, and community members

  • With support from the ProgramManager, ensures that monthly program related reports are submitted as required.

  • Attend professional development trainings

  • Teach curricula to meet program requirements

  • Support junior staff members with guidance as needed to meet deliverables

  • Communicate effectively with school site personnel and engaged community partners

  • Develop work plans and monitor implementation of strategies and activities

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills

  • Effectively engage a classroom or group of participants

 

Training and Experience:

Requires a BA degree and at least two years education implementation in a school setting or other youth/community service environment. Bilingual skills highly desired (Spanish/English)

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Scale: $40,566- $49,830 commensurate with experience
