About the Position

Under the direction of a designated 411 East Lake Director, the Lead Mental Health Clinician will coordinate, implement, monitor, and assist in planning and developing program activities in an assigned area. The Lead Mental Health Clinician will oversee assigned staff in said program area and provide a minimum of 10 hours of direct clinical services to children and/or families weekly.

Duties & Responsibilities 

Program administration duties. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work in partnership with leadership to develop plans, activities and procedures that can contribute to the success of the program and PVPSA

  • Engage with community, school, and/or county partners as needed

  • Participate in interviewing and training of new employees

  • Review and assignment of new referrals by staying abreast of staff caseloads, school assignments, office availability. May include coordinating referrals to other resources within or outside PVPSA

  • Inter and intra agency collaboration to support staff working with complex clients (ex. safety planning, psychiatry referrals, hospitalizations, sentinel event reporting, etc.)

  • Support the Director/Supervisor with HR tasks as needed (i.e. ensuring adequate coverage, contribute to staff evaluations and/or PIPs, etc.)

  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, conferences, and workshops

  • Staff caseload consultation and support as requested (clinical support received primarily in Supervision)

Direct service delivery to eligible children and their families. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct evaluations, assessments and counseling services of referred children, adolescents and their families in a school, home or community-based clinic setting

  • Bill services in a timely manner through designated EHR and follow documentation guidelines

  • Complete paperwork at required frequencies (consents, progress notes, assessments, etc.)

  • Connect with client families, school personnel, and supporting agencies to best coordinate client care. Provide wrap around support including case management and collateral support

  • Provide therapeutic interventions that are goal-oriented utilizing evidence-based modalities. May include group therapy, family therapy, and individual sessions

  • Work with other members of the treatment team (clinical supervisors, MHRS, case managers, etc.) to provide individualized, effective clinical care

  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, conferences and workshops

  • Adhere to all confidentiality requirements and mandated reporting laws.

  • Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) Criteria

  • Service delivery and productivity standards

  • Strength based and cultural appropriate services

Ability to:

  • Work with children, adolescents, families, peers, and community partners

  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of people, including community, media, schools

  • Communicate efficiently to diverse audiences

  • Identify, develop, prepare, and evaluate training and educational materials

  • Assess students behavioral and emotional strengths and challenges to make knowledgeable recommendations and/or design appropriate service plans

  • Bilingual/Bicultural skills a plus and eligible for additional compensation as noted

Training and Experience 

Requires a master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, or closely related behavioral science field and be registered or be in the process of registration with CA BBS or eligible to provide mental health counseling as permissible by county mental health plan; must have at least one year experience working in clinical setting. Bilingual, English and Spanish, desirable.


This position is eligible to receive clinical supervision.

Annual Salary Range

Salary Schedule: $65,000 - $79,007, commensurate with experience. PVPSA offers competitive benefits including Paid Time Off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life for employee and family coverage is also available. Employer also contributes to the employee’s retirement plan.
