Program Area: Youth Cannabis Prevention Education

About the Position

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator or designee, coordinate the implementation of substance abuse education related curriculum and establishing a smoking/vaping cessation program in secondary schools throughout Santa Cruz City Schools.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement evidenced based substance abuse education services to youth

  • Develop knowledge of specific primary and a secondary cannabis, tobacco and substance abuse education educational materials, trainings, and activities

  • Plans, preps, and presents curriculum in the classroom, individual and community setting

  • Administers and collects program evaluation data

  • Interfaces with school site administration to arrange for delivery of curriculum

  • Research, design and implement training and professional development information about cannabis and other related substances to collaborative partners, and community members

  • With support from the Program Coordinator, ensures that monthly program related reports are submitted as required. 

  • Attend professional development trainings

  • Support other program support

Training and Experience Required 

Requires a BA degree and at least two years education implementation in a school setting or other youth/community service environment. Bilingual skills highly desired (Spanish/English)


An AA and at least four (4) years of prior experience in a classroom setting or other youth and community-based environments demonstrating similar duties and responsibilities.

Bilingual (English/Spanish, preferred)

Salary and Benefits:

$20.25 - 23.25 per hour commensurate with experience
